Joining the day

How to attend the symposium

There are two ways to take part: watch the online stream, or join one of the hive sites in person.

Thank you for registering for the DICATS REVOLive symposium. If you have not done so already, please register using our archive access page or the registration form. We send detailed instructions to your email once we receive your registration. On this page you will find additional information on how to attend.

Broadcast format

The live broadcast is in a 360 HD format. Video is captured and streamed in 360 degrees and can be viewed using a virtual reality headset if you have one available, or as a standard view in a browser or on a phone.

Two routes

In person or online

Every route to the symposium leads to the same continuous broadcast, but the in person rooms add live activity you cannot get from a screen.

In person at a hive site

The broadcast begins at 3pm local time in Singapore and 7am UTC for the worldwide audience. The local live events at the hive sites start as listed on the program page.

Because the local broadcast is streamed worldwide, you might be filmed while attending in person. Use the links below to reach the hive that hosts you.

Hive hosts: LASALLE College of the Arts, University of Roehampton, Drexel University, Loyola Marymount University and BC Cancer.

Online through the global broadcast

The broadcast begins at 3pm local time in Singapore and 7am UTC for the worldwide audience through our DICATS REVOLive channel on YouTube. The stream switches automatically from one hive site to another as listed on the program.

You do not need to subscribe to watch the live stream. If you subscribe, you can take part in live Q&A, receive notices if we hit technical problems, access the online archive after the meeting, and help the channel reach more people. You can also follow along on Twitter at @DicatsR.

Speed test

Make sure your network is fast enough for the stream. Run a network speed test before the day. A speed of 6Mbps or above is generally enough for a good quality broadcast. Watching the stream uses a considerable amount of data on a metered connection.

Watching the stream

Headset, phone or browser

Some of the popular ways to watch a 360 stream, in order of immersion.

On a head mounted display

Through a virtual reality headset such as Oculus Rift, HTC Vive, Samsung Gear VR, Google Daydream, Google Cardboard, Oculus Go or Lenovo Mirage, along with third party mounts for mobile devices. Keep your device batteries charged.

On a mobile device

Through the app on an iOS or Android phone or tablet. Use touch scrolling to look around the video.

On a web browser

On Windows, Linux or MacOS, with a modern browser preferred. Use the mouse to click and drag and look around.

For attendees who have trouble viewing in 360, we centre the main presentation so the stream can be watched as a standard view. For further help, see the guide to watching 360 videos from YouTube help.
