DICATS is the Digital International Creative Arts Therapies Symposium, a unique 24 hour, multi site, web based, peer reviewed symposium. It brings together practitioners in arts and arts therapies to learn about digital devices, new media and immersive tools for therapeutic and educational work.
The 2019 symposium ran on February 23, 2019, beginning at 3pm local time in Singapore and 7am UTC for the worldwide audience. The latest gathering, REVOLive, took place on June 23, 2023, and its video archive is now available.
There are five hive sites: Singapore, London in the United Kingdom, Philadelphia in the United States, Los Angeles in the United States, and Vancouver in Canada. Each hosts its own local program of presentations and activity.
There are two ways to take part. You can watch the online stream, or join one of the hive sites in person. The full guidance is on the attend page.
No. The broadcast is in 360 HD, which can be viewed through a headset if you have one, or on a phone or web browser where you can look around by touch or with the mouse. For attendees who have trouble viewing in 360, the main presentation is centred so it can be watched as a standard view.
Registration for the online symposium is free. If you did not register for the symposium but would like to access the archive, there is a one time 20 United States dollar maintenance fee. See the registration page for details.
Registered delegates receive instructions to access the members only area by email. If your link has expired, or you have not registered, request access through the archive access page.
Yes. Proposals are invited from digital design innovators, artists, researchers, practitioners, eHealth clinicians and game designers. Read the call for proposals and email your form to [email protected].
A speed of 6Mbps or above is generally enough for a good quality broadcast. Watching the stream uses a considerable amount of data on a metered connection, so run a speed test before the day.
